IEPs and Me: Bridging Mental Health and Education: Understanding and Integrating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in Clinical Practice

This training is designed for mental health clinicians seeking to enhance their understanding of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and their role in supporting children with diverse learning and developmental needs. Participants will gain foundational knowledge about what IEPs are, who they serve, and the legal protections they provide under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Special attention will be given to how families of color navigate special educational services and advocacy within the school system.

Clinicians will learn how to interpret psychological and educational testing results included in IEPs, identify key components of these plans, and evaluate their appropriateness for children and families they support.
